I would even go further and say that its not an "anti-ideology" but an ideology in itself. Many other thinkers have come to a similar conclusion, particularly Murray Gell-Mann comes to mind. I hope I'm not being patronising here, but I find that a lot of people within the skeptic and atheist movements do find themselves conforming to a way of thinking set up by some of those names you've mentioned. Matthew Nisbet (whom many despise, but I think he has something important to say) has blogged about this before as well. I can't be bothered on Saturday midnight to find this though ;) The whole "free-thinkers" label amuses me greatly, in some cases religion and dogma has been replaced with rationality and reason. While these seem noble on face-value they lend to an obstruction of thought. Its hard for me to explain on here though, after a bottle of wine no less. This is a great way for you to be thinking. But as someone who has been burnt several times by unquestioning attitudes, I guess it's something I notice a little more than most.
